The First Note

 

Adam Nelson is an accomplished violinist living in the Barrhaven area. Beginning violin at the age of 5, Nelson has competed in, and scored highly in, many violin competitions, including Kiwanis at the provincial and national level, and the Canadian Music Competiton. He received his undergrad from Wilfrid Laurier University and his Masters of Music Performance, as well as a supplementary orchestra diploma, from the University of Ottawa. Nelson’s time is divided between his love of teaching and regularly performing with area orchestras such as the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. He has served as faculty with numerous educational organizations such as the Kincardine Summer Music Festival, National Music Camp, Summer Music Galway in Ireland, and most recently with the Leading Note Foundation’s OrKidstra program. Nelson deeply enjoys teaching violinists of all ages and has taught and performed internationally, from such locations as Doha, Qatar and Cape Town, South Africa.
